Our Seaside Adventure!

Last month our family made a mid-week trip (thanks to the hubby's unemployment status we can do stuff like this right now) to the beautiful Oregon coast and I completely forgot to blog about it! We packed up the car the night before and headed out as early as possible with 2 kids (I think we managed to leave Hillsboro after a quick stop at Freddy's at about 9 am). The weather was gorgeous and perfect- hardly any wind and a sunny, mild day. It was extremely nice to get out of Portland and we even managed to do it on the cheap. We spent less than $50 for the whole trip- including buying picnic food for our lunch at the beach.
We headed out, with the kids and double stroller in tow, to Cannon Beach first with a quick stop to Ecola State Park.I had, surprisingly, never been there before. I highly recommend it...You can see for miles, as long as the fog stays away! And hey, our toddler stayed entertained for 30 + minutes by chasing a seagull!

After Cannon Beach we headed to Seaside. We had a picnic on the beach, went to the carousel, played in the arcade and window shopped in all the touristy shops. Oh, and my naughty husband bought a DEEP FRIED CHERRY-COVERED TWINKIE! Tsk tsk tsk.

August, for the record, did NOT like being buried in the sand!

Our youngest son already owns a restaurant!

ummm you know you are going to have to run 15 miles to burn that thing off right?!

The carousel was a huge hit!

daddy had fun too!

Oh ya, I beat the hubby THAT badly at basketball. Don't mess with a Huff!

After we left Seaside, we drove the short distance to Astoria and got a workout climbing the Astoria Column. Joel had a huge beer taster at a local Brewery and then we stopped by the Goonies house and the school where the filmed Kindergarten Cop. We finished our trip with a quick visit at Grandpa Dale's and Grandma Barbara's house.
