August turns 2!

August turned 2 last week and we had a fun party to celebrate on Saturday!
The weather was beautiful, we had lots and lots of friends and family showed up and I threw a pretty good party! Of course I stayed up almost all night on Friday decorating, cooking and cleaning but it was all worth it! the theme this year was "Ice Cream Party" with Mexican food.
The menu :
Cream cheese chicken enchiladas with poblanoes
Spinach and Portabello mushroom enchiladas
Homemade salsa and bean dip with chips
Mexican Quinoa salad with cilantro vinegrette, black beans, tomatoes, green onions, cucumber and avocado
Homemade Strawberry Tequila Lemonade
Non-Alcoholic Watermelon Cocunut Lime Water
An assortment of Mexican beer
Ice Cream Cupcakes
Red Velvet cake from New Seasons
Make your own Ice cream sundae buffet

Joel and I also made an ice cream truck as a backdrop for photos during the party and some really cute goody bags for all the kids.
The goody bags were filled with temporary tattoos, make your own ice cream cone kit, balls and pinwheels. We made all 12 bags for less than $30. We also used an idea I found on pinterest of tying a balloon to each of the goody bags so all the kids got a balloon and it doubled as decoration!

I think everyone had a great time and almost all the food got wiped out so it must have been decent! Thanks to everyone who spoiled our little boy on his special day and came out to celebrate!
